What to do When Your Pet Dog Chokes
⊆ Thursday, September 01, 2011 by Jenkins A. Dolor Jr | ˜ 0 comments »There are a lot of reasons why a dog would choke. He may have choked on his food, toys, a bone, or anything that it puts in to its mouth.
Here are several visible clues to know if your pet dog is choking:
1. The dog seems uneasy
2. Experience difficulty in breathing
3. Gums may turn pale or bluish in color
4. Struggling or gasping
If some or all of the symptoms are present you may want to do the following:
1. Reach in to the dog's mouth with your fingers to feel the cause of the choking and manually dislodge it.
2. If you cant feel it, you do a Heimlich maneuver type action by wrapping your arms below the dogs rib cage and squeeze tightly and abruptly. Then check the mouth with your fingers again to see if the object is dislodge.
3. If he is still choking, turn the dog upside down with his head hanging down.
4. If it doesn't work, perform CPR through the dog's nose.
5. Bring him to the nearest hospital or clinic.
